As we closely follow the evolving situation around COVID-19, our goal is to keep the GCDS community informed at every step. The safety and health of our students is our top priority. Since COVID-19 began on March, 2020, Glenwood Country Day School HAS NOT closed one day due to the pandemic. By following our guidelines set forth by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), we were able to continue teaching our children in our community. We will continue to implement safe practices based on the current CDC guidelines.
Learn MoreGlenwood Country Day School’s Summer Adventures Camp is the premier summer camp program in Howard County for children ages 2 and up. Whatever your interests are… we have a summer for you! Our degreed and fully-trained staff will excite and inspire your child in a safe and nurturing environment. Your child will spend time with old friends and make new ones while exploring lively outdoor adventures.
Is your child ready to explore the world? To learn about different cultures and travel to different countries? This is exactly what they will find at Summer Adventures Camp!
Our professional staff and lower camper-to-staff ratio allows each child to have the most fun in a safe, supervised environment. Each day, campers will experience fun activities with their one teacher all day. The teacher will be rotating throughout the 40-acre campus to our different stations. The stations include STEM, sports and games, art, science and nature, music and drama, and multiple field games in our huge field. In addition to going to the stations, they will also get cooled off frequently in our pool and water sprinklers and water pads.
Glenwood Country Day School’s Summer Adventure Camp offers many different opportunities for campers to learn, grow and have fun all summer long.

What Does My Child Bring To Camp?
Our Staff
Illness due to COVID-19
3. If a staff member or a child develops symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath) during school, safely isolate the person and place a mask or face covering in our Isolation Room. Contact the youth health supervisor and the parent/guardian immediately of any case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and arrange for safe transportation to a healthcare facility or home. Advise those who have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 to stay home, self-monitor for symptoms, and follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.
4. If your child becomes ill while at school, you will be notified immediately of your child’s prompt dismissal. If your child is sent home with a fever of 100 degrees, diarrhea, vomiting, etc., your child may not return to school for at least 24 hours after the symptoms have stopped. We will notify you promptly in the event of an emergency. Unless otherwise instructed, your child will be transported to the nearest hospital.
5. Every child will stay with 1 very small class that has the same teacher all day. This model helps in preventing the speed of COVID-19. When our teachers rotate to different learning stations outdoors, on our 40 acres, the teachers will immediately disinfect touchable surfaces before going to the next learning station. The teacher will also model for her students the importance of washing their hands between our learning stations.
Masks are Optional. If you choose to have your child wear a mask outside or if we are inside, then have your child pack 1 or 2 masks in his/her back pack. If you don’t want your child have a mask on, then you don’t have to pack it.
Campers should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing with closed-toe and heel shoes. Most campers wear sneakers or Keen’s type of shoes. Campers at Glenwood’s Summer Adventures Camp need to have ALL belongings labeled with their names. They should bring lunch (please remember we are nut-free) with a drink and 2 snacks in a disposable lunch bag (no containers) and a large plastic backpack with the following:
Campers will use the air-conditioned classrooms in case of bad weather.

We teach children to swim in a safe, caring, positive, and fun environment. We recognize that each child is an individual with different emotional and developmental needs and abilities. We cater lessons to those needs. Beginners will focus on water acclimation, floating and kicking skills. Advanced swimmers focus on the various strokes such as freestyle and backstroke, then progress to butterfly and breaststroke. Your swimmers will also learn valuable safety rules and survival skills while we strive to encourage the development of your child’s self-esteem, confidence, responsibility and love of the water.
Parents should open the Swim Lesson Application and choose which camp weeks you would like your child to attend swim lessons. Circle the days that you would like for your child to attend. Please note that your child will need to be enrolled in our Summer Adventures Camp to attend swim lessons.
Glenwood Country Day School’s tutorial center provides a one-on-one personal academic support system. It is a safe, creative space where we help students ages 4 thru 15 become more successful. Our tutors share their knowledge of their subject matter by providing an active learning experience for their students by explaining difficult concepts and providing hands-on examples for exploration. They ENCOURAGE, MOTIVATE, INSPIRE, ENABLE students to develop confidence in their academic abilities.
